dC is the best solar market in the country.

That’s a bold statement. But between the 30% federal tax credit, and most importantly, DC’s legislated Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SREC’s), solar has never been more affordable or equitable to install on your home.

With our precision design and expert installation, you can take advantage of these incentives, save on your energy bills, and perhaps even take your home completely netzero and powered by the sun.

Why install solar on your DC home?

It’s true that there are many benefits to solar panels beyond just energy savings. Here are some extras to consider:

  • You’re not just saving money on your energy bills, but it’s a relative low to no risk high return on investment with the combination of all federal and DC area incentives.
  • In combination with some other low-hanging-fruit energy efficiency, we can most likely get your entire home’s energy usage to net zero, where it’s fully powered by renewables as well.
  • Solar is a proven technology with all components including a 25 year warranty, so you can rest easy.
  • If you’re looking at needing a new roof anyway, this is a perfect time to go solar.
  • Finally, you’re able to go green, power the electric car, and fully electrify your home (from the sun) and your life for the planet.
  • There is no maintenance with solar. There are no moving parts, and nothing to worry about once it’s installed.
  • Studies consistently show that solar increases home value by 2-4% on average, giving you even more instant home equity.

did you know?

Solar is fantastic in the DC area, but coupled with energy efficiency projects, it’s even better.

When combined with low-hanging-fruit projects like energy audits, air sealing, insulation, heat pump water heaters, heat pump HVAC systems, EV chargers, panel upgrades, and more, we can often take your home’s energy usage down by 20-30% before any solar is needed.

We love designing full net zero and home electrification systems for you that save money and just make sense. And by combining these above mentioned projects, we can often save you a lot of money while increasing comfort, home value, and your overall quality of life at the same time.

Air Sealing and Insulation Service

Insulation and air sealing goes hand in hand with saving energy with your solar system. The fact is, all these projects tag-team off of each other. With a less leaky home that has better air management and insulation, your home uses less energy and can be healthier at the same time. This leads to energy and maintenance savings, along with longer system lifetimes.

Done together, we can save energy across the board. It also starts with a good energy audit, which we suggest doing also.

FAQ

do you have a question about Solar?

We’ll try to answer the most common ones here, but if you don’t find your answer, please reach out!

Solar totally depends on the exact size that you need, but most DC homes can expect project sizes from $15,000 to $30,000. But that’s before the incredible incentives, which even in year one, can reduce the total cost by 30-40% or more. Contact us for more details on your specific home.

We sure do! You can fill out our Contact Form here or give us a call. The more detail the better so we can save you time, and we may not even need to go out to your home if we have your address. We can usually get really far in the process by just seeing your energy bills and satellite imagery.

To start with, the uncapped 30% federal tax credit for solar projects is huge. But even better and on a yearly recurring basis, you can sell your SRECs that usually produce thousands of dollars per year with homeowners that have solar installed. The SRECs alone often are much higher than even your energy bill savings. And you get both! Contact Us for specifics on these incentives.

While you personally won’t need to do anything besides scheduling a couple engineering visits on the front end, the solar design and permitting process can indeed take a few months. This is mostly due to being held up by the local authorities, permitting, and utility company net metering and hookup system in place.

In total, expect between 3-4 months as a safe bet before we are even allowed to install the system due to the above mentioned planning department items.

There is none. There are no moving parts and there’s a 25 year warranty on all major components from the manufacturer directly. Once installed, there’s nothing to do except enjoy your home powered by the sun and the lower energy bills, along with the SREC yearly payments to you when you trade/sell them.
